Born into a family of idol worshippers, Joseph only attended school for one year before his father withdrew him, because he had arranged a marriage for him. Joseph refused the marriage.
He considered converting to Islam but changed his mind when he saw how the “almajiri” were suffering. The life of his brother, a Christian impacted him and he decided to become a Christian. When he told his father he was very angry, as Joseph was the last born, how could he desert his parents like that? His mother accused the Christians of giving him medicine to drug him into submission but Joseph strongly denied it, and said this was his own choice. His father disowned him, but his brother brought him to CFI for discipleship and secondary education.
