Christian Faith Ministries

Online Bible College

Learn while you Reach Others with the gospel...

Welcome to Christian Faith Institute’s Online Bible Study centre.

On this site you can study up to 30 modules. You download the lecture notes and submit your assignments by email. The first 19 modules are based on the book Christ in You, by Kent Hodge.

CFI’s modules are designed to give the student knowledge of scripture, including its main themes and how these apply to our lives. The modules also look at how the scriptures have been viewed throughout church history. Other modules look at practical issues in Christian life, ministry and the biblical languages.

Each module has supporting notes from various other authors. These include pastors, college and university lecturers and others, to enable the student to have a more complete perspective on the subject matter.

Study Options

Students have three options of study:

  1. A simple or straight forward Bible Study option (BS). This is for students who want to access the Bible knowledge contained in the modules, but who do not wish to commit to more rigorous study. Assignments in this option are less demanding and will not be accredited.

  2. The Bible Certificate option (BC) for students pursuing an accredited course of study. This option requires further reading and an additional assignment for each module, i.e. an essay question.

  3. The Audit option: You may like to pick and choose modules according to your own needs, rather than attempt to finish the course. Just take the modules that you have a particular interest in. Sending in assignments is optional. Those in this option should purchase BS modules.

CFI will soon be accredited with the Nigerian Government. This usually means that credits from modules completed may be transferred to international colleges, but the student would have to make specific enquiries in their own nation to confirm this. (Accreditation has been offered to CFI by a government body, however the formal procedure has not yet been finalised. We hope it shall be shortly. We then plan to include the BC Online Study in those courses that are accredited.)

Chatroom (coming soon...)

CFI also hosts an online chatroom. This is for students to exchange ideas and resources regarding Bible study, by posting to each other online. Others who are not students, but who wish to dialogue and ask questions, are also encouraged to join in. This chatroom is for all church members or anyone who desires to know about the scriptures. You can also lodge prayer requests in the chatroom.

The chatroom is also an ideal place for pastors to meet and to interact with other people who have questions about Christianity. It’s also a great place for graduates of CFI to keep in contact.

Fees Sponsor Missions

The fee you pay for each module is used 100% to sponsor other missionary students. These are on-campus students who study at CFI in Jos, many of whom are converted from Islam and start churches in Islamic areas. CFI pays most of their fees while they study at Jos. Your module fees are used fully towards sponsoring these students. This means that while you are learning about the scripture, at the same time you are also promoting missions so others can hear the gospel.

BS: BS modules are A$60 each. You can pay this in any currency and in any country by using your debit or credit card on Paypal. We have quoted the cost in Australian dollars. The exchange rate to other currencies will vary of course, but the A$ is approximately valued at £0.50, US$0.90 or EUR 0.60.

BC: BC modules are A$100 each. The reason for the extra charge is that these modules require extra administration work in grading the essay. CFI uses volunteer markers so that the whole fee you pay is channelled towards missions.

For our statement on financial accountability please see the For Supporters page.

How To Start

Now go to How to Start and you will be shown the easy steps in downloading your module information and beginning your personal study.

We pray that God may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know the hope of our calling and the riches of the glory of our inheritance in Christ... (Eph 1:17-18)

Modules

Go to the Purchase a Module link to view the modules currently available. More modules are being added on an ongoing basis. Existing modules are also being modifed: new files and lecture notes are added or used to replace existing ones from time to time.

Each module contains a syllabus, lecture notes, supporting notes (such as commentaries or articles by various authors) and assignment instructions.

You do not have to do modules in any particular order, but we recommend you do them in the order listed in Purchase a Module.  The first three modules are more of a foundation to the course and are recommended, however students wanting to get on with more direct Bible study may wish to start with any of the other modules.

You may also download free MP3 audio files of Christ in You to support your study. These audio files correspond to several course modules. Download here: Audio MP3s (get from iTunes)

Various authors have contributed to the module lecture notes. You can see some of these contributors here: Contributing Authors

Course Load

Each module is valued at 3 credit points. A Certificate of Education  at CFI (for online BC students) is valued at 90 credit points. A full course load is therefore 30 modules. This also applies to BS students, though without accreditation. Both BS and BC students will be elliagble for graduation at CFI after completing the course load, but only BC students with an accredited certificate. You may however do individual modules at your own pace, or without aiming at completing this 30 module course requirement. See How to Start for more information on this.

Application

There is no application process for online students or application fee. However, if you are doing this course through the Jos office there may be additional application/registration requirements in accordance with our Student Hanbook. Full online students need do nothing more than start by going straight to Purchase a Module.
