CFM started as a Bible college in Northern Nigeria in 2007. Soon after crisis errupted in Jos resulting in tremendous loss of life as both Muslim and Christian communities suffered. We found our identity as peace makers. Our teaching and practise shifted. As followers of Jesus we learnt to respond to crisis: firstly through short term aid; and then through long term peacebuilding projects designed to heal and restore relationships in a fractured and broken society. Now CFM employs more than 300 staff accross our projects in the North.

peacebuilding
Peacebuilding values are consistent accross all CFM projects. Some projects have been established in conflict zones in order to bring reconciliation between peoples through Christ. Other projects build peace between people groups due to their inclusivity.

theology
Biblical teaching is core to all we do. It is by makeing the principles of Jesus’ cross central to our lives that we see his Kingsom come. With the Bible College at the heart of the organisation our theology informs our practise and our practise informs our theology.

grassroots
CFM prioritises care for the poor and uneducated. From our clincis to our Bible College we serve those who could not otherwise afford it. We offer scholarships and heavily subsudised prices accross our projects.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the incarnation of Israel’s God, come to bring salvation and new creation. We believe in the authority of scripture. We believe in the church, living out the witness of the kingdom of God in community, bringing reconciliation and renewal to our nations.
I find statements of faith funny things. We are quite happy to argue and reject people based on their statements, while in Australia, for example, we own and sleep at night on land taken from Aboriginals without compensation, and we have no trouble with that. I think conservatism got a lot of things right with scripture, but not community, and community is the lynchpin. It is what scripture is revealing to us in its story.
Evangelism is a work of social justice.’Loving our neighbour’ means seeking to put things right with those around us. Wherever we live in the world, this is our aim, even at cost to ourselves. This is bearing the likeness of the cross, and this is our most plain statement of faith, read on our hearts and lives.
