About Kent & His Work

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text] Kent and his wife Ruth moved from Australia to Nigeria in 1986. They worked as missionaries and Bible school lecturers in the south of Nigeria, Benin City, where they also raised 5 children. During this time the gospel spread rapidly throughout the south as many cultures dropped their pagan rituals and accepted Christ.

In 2009 the Hodges, with a team of indigenous leaders, moved to Jos, a city that has long been considered an outpost in Nigeria’s Muslim North. Here they intended to establish a Bible College that would train indiginous leaders to reach the unreached north.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

In the years that followed Nigeria faced extreme turmoil. The economy faced rapid decline, terrorist groups such as Boko Haram emerged in the north and cultural conflicts hightened to the point where tanks rolled though Jos’ streets. Countless lives were lost as both Christians and Muslims killed unreservedly.

Admist this devastation, of which Jos was often the center, the team stood firm and became a peacemaking influence in the city. We could not find an answer to these problems in traditional theology that encourages separation. We sought answers in the scriptures and the response of the early church.

As many other theologians and colleges are doing in recent times we have sought to understand the scriptures as they were written in the Hebrew mindset. God is not violent and he will not destroy all things. He calls us to reconcile with our enemy and renew our world.

Kent’s theology and work go hand in hand. As we understand the scriptures we put into practice what God is making known. We have started computer centres in conflict regions that bring Muslims and Christians under the same roof. We have started schools, Bible colleges, mission stations, clinics, crisis homes, persecuted discipleship centers and countless peacemaking protects.

God is transforming some of the worst, most violent regions in our world. We pray that as you read/listen to the content on this site you too will be inspired to make peace with your enemy and become a part of the transformation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_single_image image=”284″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border_circle_2″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
