Build Local Wealth Together

Build Local Wealth Together

Monopolies take control of markets, taking economic, political and social power away from local communities, families and churches. They promise big industry (like mass production of tomatoes), employment and supply for local regions. But this ends in low wages...

Integration

Integration

We could call it holism. Sometimes our cultures see things in parts. Left or right politics is a good example of this. Such divisions allow us to build our own group of supporters. But the creation narrative in Genesis speaks of the whole. Every part is known in its...

Video: End Times, or the Church Renewing the Nations?

WHAT DOES PAUL MEAN BY FAITH?

The faith that Paul sketches teaches that we love one another to reflect God’s rule in our Adamic vocation, bringing about the fulfillment of God’s original plan. This is what Christ taught: peacemakers are the children of God, the new Adam and Eve, presiding over and inheriting the creation. (Matthew 5:9) “You are the light of the world:” the light of creation shining through the new Adams into a restored creation. (Matthew 5:14) This is what John taught: Christ comes in a renewal of creation, to push back the darkness, to raise up the new Adam and Eve. (John 1:5, 12)

REFLECTIONS IN GENESIS

The creation of heaven and earth took place in seven 24-hour days, according to the text. I am unconvinced by all attempts to affirm or deny any particular scientific meaning to the chapter, but I also reject assigning a macro-evolutionary worldview. Such a worldview is more akin to the pagan creation stories circulating in Moses’ day: where the gods made the world through violence and sexual perversion, that were both “amoral.” It was a theology of war, “the survival of the fittest.” The Pentateuch was written to overthrow this worldview……

Overcoming a negative worldview
